Projects

Here's just a small sampling of the work we’ve done to bring sound technologies to progressive growers.

Lockeford, California

Research with the USDA on pollinator habitat and cover crop mixes within commercial farming systems. Our objective was to provide a comprehensive guide to cover cropping seeding technologies that provide a higher germination rate, stand and bloom overlap. To supplement this, we helped develop an AI that can identify cover crops based on images taken from a phone for a better understanding of transecting cover crops. Both technologies compliment each other to foster a better likelihood of adoption. Since then, the seeding technology and corresponding crop ID app have been commercially rolled out in 24 countries, including California’s Central Valley.

San Diego, California

We have worked with a variety of bio stimulant technologies to develop a more sound understanding of how organic compounds cause phytohormone- like effects in perennial crops. To date, we have helped commercially roll out 12 bio stimulants that have novel formulations, honing in on rate, method and timing of application. These 12 products, manufactured by 5 different companies are now available in 48 different countries.

Sioux Falls, South Dakota

We engaged several remote bee hive colony sensing technologies, from measuring temperature/ vibration/humidity to utilizing forward looking infrared (FLIR) technology . Out of many of these technologies, we were able to help develop protocols and aid in commercial adoption from beekeepers across the nation. Research we did on FLIR has now been commercially rolled out and considered a standard method of colony strength inspections worldwide.
